9:30-10:45 hs. Plenary Session I: Introduction to the GPR2C

Background information, work done so far, next planned steps

Speakers: Nelson (Polis Institute/GPR2C) and Eva (University of Coimbra)– 20´each

Questions & answers 20´ in total

Definition and introduction of three working groups (themes, participants, moderators and rapporteurs, questions for debate)

Speakers: Cesare (IAI/GPR2C) and Lorena (HIC/GPR2C) – 15´ in total

10:45-11:00 hs. Coffee-Tea break and organization of the working groups

11:00-13:30 hs.      Working groups I: The Right to the City in Europe and the region (Part I)

Perspectives, struggles and proposals from social movements, civil society organizations, international networks, academics

Key questions for debate: How to build a solidary and democratic city? Which articulations, dialogues, actions?

Build on common strategies & main actions (incl. mobilization, networking and

alliances, advocacy, research and capacity-building, communication).

Three simultaneous working groups:

  1. Democracy, the city by and for the inhabitants; self-managed and autonomic spaces, etc.
  2. Financialization/privatization of social/public housing and public spaces, etc.
  3. Right to housing and Right to the City, public services, etc.

Each group should define moderators and rapporteurs from within its participants.

Perspectives, struggles and proposals from social movements, civil society organizations, international networks, academics, local governments

Three simultaneous working groups:

  1. Competitive vs. Solidary cities, social and solidary economy, non-formal workers.
  2. All forms of expulsions and evictions, repression, refugee and migrants.
  3. City-region food systems & urban/rural relationships at the heart of the R2C.

Each group should define moderators and rapporteurs among its participants.
